Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a great weekend; it was full of playing, shopping and tons of relaxing. I was surprised with roses and a cute little cupid teddy bear on Friday from Mike. That was very sweet. We are never ones to make a big deal about Valentine's Day, but when he's gone, he always tries to remind me he's thinking of me. Friday was reserved for relaxing and trying to get our bodies back to "normal" from the flu and our busy week. It seemed to have worked; we all had nice long naps (over 4 hours for the girls) and really enjoyed just being able to play and not have to be anywhere.
Saturday, we spent some time shopping. Ivie LOVES shopping, so she trully enjoyed herself. We found a few good deals on things we need for our little baby boy (we're completely starting from scratch clothing wise) and I also found a few things for the girls and for me. I think that's all we did, but it took a lot of our day.
Sunday we just hung out around the house again. I think Ivie has made a full recovery; she spent a lot of the day eating. In total, she had 4 bowls of cereal, 2.5 apples, 1.5 sandwiches, 2 pieces of pizza and a chicken wing! I cannot believe she ate so much. That meant we definitely had to grocery shop today! I think today was the first day I did a "big" shopping trip, and I ended up shopping as if Mike were home. YIKES! Needless to say, we have a lot of food. Oh, exciting news (at least for me) I finally made it to the new Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers store and bought myself tons of Gluten-Free foods. I feel so spoiled. They have a Vitamin Cottage "up north" but I rarely make it there because it seems like such a chore with one car, or having to haul the girls up there just for a few groceries for me. But, I am so proud of myself for making me a priority this shopping trip. I am hoping having a great selection of food here I can actualy eat will keep me out of the fast-dood drive up lanes.
Oh, another bit of exciting news, Mike called today. They are finally putting in phones/computers at their outpost which I am sure the soldiers just LOVE. They have DSN phones right now (he calls an operator at a local post/base and he/she connects the soldier to his loved one) so I was pleasantly surprised to answer the house phone and hear Mike, just as clear as can be, on the other end. He usually just calls the cell phone in case I'm out and about. He's doing well, and keeping very busy, of course. He says things are relativiely calm, nothing scary, and he does a lot of talking with locals at the marketplace. We don't usually talk about his work, but it's nice to hear what he's going through when he does want to talk about it. He sounded tired, but in good spirits. It's amazing to think that in 3 months he'll be on his way home for R&R (God willing). That means we'll be meeting our little boy in 3 months as well! WOW!
Over the weekend I also did a little on-line shopping (way too scary-convienent for me) and I ordered some wall-paper border and a new rug for the girls' new room. I am going to paint the bottom half of the walls and put up the border like a mock chair rail. I am turning the playroom into their room. I'll be buying them bunk beds soon too. Ivie is super excited about having bunk beds, although she'll be the only one sleeping in there, on the bottom bunk, for a while. Elly will stay in the cirb in what will be the baby's room for a while still. I am very excited to start the process of transforming the plain bedrooms into some more individulized rooms for the children. I feel like I have TONS to keep me busy around here and time is definitley not on my side. But, luckily it's just little things I want to get done, so I can hopefully do a project every couple of weeks and be finished before May.
I need to be making my way to bed; all of baby's growing and extra activity is taking a lot from me lately (a little too soon if you ask me) so I must be good to myself and get some extra rest, while I can. I'll be in touch!
