A day for me

When I was preparing myself for my temp, single motherhood I promised myself I would make time for me, just me, not to be selfish, but to allow myself a break, occasionally, so I can be refreshed and keep being the best mama I can be to the girls. We are given 16 free hours of childcare per child per month on post while Mike is deployed and I want to take advantage of that opportunity and put the girls in for a few hours every month on my OB Dr. appointment day. My plans and best intentions don't always work out like I hope, so I haven't truly enjoyed time for just me in a while, but today, finally, I had myself a "Me Day". I dropped of the girls at 1100 and made my way to the Nail Salon for a pedicure. I loved every moment of that. Relaxing in the massage chair, having my feet pampered and painted and just taking that hour to relax and not worry about anything other than which color nail polish to choose. I love it. I cannot, comfortably, reach my feet and am so glad that I have beautiful toes and refreshed feet. I am definitely keeping up this bit of pampering as long as I can. Heck, if I go once a month it's a nice, affordable treat that'll keep me feeling good about myself! After that I had lunch and went to Sears and made my way to the OB clinic.
I saw a different CNM this time and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed her. She was so sweet and compassionate, incredibly helpful and knowledgeable too. Baby boy is doing very well, growing as expected and has a strong heartbeat and was rather playful too. I gained a whopping 4.5 pounds this past month (I'm up to 10 pounds now)! I spoke with the CNM about wanting to meet with wonder doc for my next appointment so I can ensure he'll be available to deliver this boy for us. She took me to her office and said she needed to check his schedule because last she knew, he would be on call for 2 solid weeks in April, meaning no appointments. Well, wonder doc added a half day of appointments to his schedule (this happened literally overnight) and I was able to get in with him next month! To top it off, the tentative May schedule shows he'll be working in Labor and Delivery (not the clinic) the day I need to have my C-section. Boy, is God good or what? I do not have a set date, and won't until 2 Apr, but things are really looking good for us right now.
I picked up the girls and we came home for a little play time. This evening, we took our little friend, L, to dinner and to see Horton Hears a Who. We had a nice time and enjoyed L's company very much!
I haven't heard from Mike a a couple of days and haven't spoken with him in a while. He did let me know they have moved to the JSS (they were "commuting") and the living conditions there are pretty bad. But, they do have phones and computers and puppies; I don't know that it really makes up for having to share a room with 6 (yes 6) other soldiers and all there stuff (which they barely have room to store), but at least he can stay in touch when time allows and get a puppy fix.
I'm off to bed. I've been losing a lot of sleep due to pregnancy related aches, pains and heartburn, and am really praying for a good, solid sleep tonight. Until next time....
