All about the big man II

Remember me mentioning I didn't want to have another post about Mike? Well, here's an update and a taste of some of the "unmentionable" crap he's been dealing with since getting injured.
Mike made it to Qatar on 4 July and met with a 4th doctor, among other things. He was hoping to finally have some answers about how long his stay would be, what exactly would be going on there, etc. Upon examining his finger, doc said the bone is healing crooked and needs to have a wire put in his finger to help the bone straighten and it will be removed in four weeks. Doc said this should have been done from the get go (2 docs told him that while a 3rd decided to just sew up the gaping hole and not worry about the bone) and easily could have been done while at the CSH in Baghdad. Apparently doc is trying to hunt down doc#3 to see why he neglected to properly care for Mike's finger. The result of the surgery should give Mike a straight finger, again, however it will result in him having limited range of motion but it shouldn't interfere with his job performance at all. If the procedure were not done, his finger would not be straight, he would have limited ROM, pain/discomfort on a regular basis, and arthritis to deal with in the future. It's a good thing this doctor is willing to do what needs to be done to ensure the best possible outcome for Mike; it's pretty frustrating this was neglected for nearly 2 weeks. The recovery time is 6 weeks. That's a major bummer for Mike. He was anticipating a 2 week stay and then getting back "in the fight" (as he puts it) and now he will be away for a total of 2 months, at least, for "just a finger". Mike will be going in for surgery at 0700 (his time) on 7 July (that's midnight for the East Coast). I don't know when I'll hear from him. It's not like anyone is there with him to phone the family after the surgery, so I guess I'll have to wait until he is up and around. It's a bit much for to be here while he's having surgery way over there, even something as routine and simple as this. He really likes this doc and seems very comfortable with her, so that does help.
We'd truly appreciate your prayers for Mike during the surgery and his recovery. For my nerves to settle a bit as well. I'll keep ya'll updated as to his progress as I hear from him. If anyone is interested in sending him a letter or card or email, let me know and I'll send you that info.

I would like that info to be able to send a card, especially since he'll be there for a while.
